8th Grade

Have you ever been through 8th grade? Felt the pressure of everything on you before high school? Felt like you were at the bottom and everything is riding on you? I know I have, 8th grade has been a hard, stressful and yet great year for me.
This year has been one of the best years of my life. My friends have helped a lot. They make me happy when I’m not. They make everything funny even when it’s not meant to be. Like Patrick Ota brushing his teeth during lunch! I have never seen a kid do that and now I have see my best friend do it! Patrick is the funniest friend I have. Then there’s Michael McCall and his brother Davis, Savanna Haverfield, Austin Perry, Emily McPhetridge and many more. Those are all the people that know how to make me laugh at anytime and that has been a highlight of my 8th grade year.
Also, this year I have made a lot of new friends. Most of them from Tahoma Middle School but others from Cedar River I just didn’t talk to much last year. But the down side to that is that I lost some great friends I had. On the bright side I have found more good friends and they have changed my life forever. This has been the best year of my life and I hope to keep it that way. I also hope everything gets better from here.
The summer of 2009 will definitely be the best summer ever! In August, Kelsey O’Fallon and I are meeting up with our best friend Hailey Stephenson. We haven’t seen her for SEVEN YEARS! She is flying up from North Carolina (as weird as that sounds) to see us. We are going to hang out everyday for as long as she is here. We are going to do as much as we can to catch up on everything. This summer will be the best summer ever and I will do whatever it takes to keep it that way. Hailey is like a twin to me. We were born on the same day, just a couple of hours apart. We lived on the same street as kids and will finally get back together. That’s what is going to be so great about this summer.
8th grade has been a hard, stressful and great year. All these things have only made it better. The friends, fun, and summer. School is almost out and that’s what I’m looking forward to. The stresses of 8th grade all go away in the summer when you have fun they go away, and when September comes, you are ready for High School.

Do you like being creative? Do you enjoy being good at something? Do you just love when you make or do something that someone else appreciates or likes? When I was about nine or ten years old I would take piano lessons twice a week. I used to hate it like people hate being sick, so I quit after a year. Recently, I have found that the piano is my favorite instrument and I am getting very good at it. In the past two months, I have learned about four new songs on the piano. My brother has also taken up the guitar again so we can play together and record songs. Some of the songs are You Found Me by The Fray, Drops of Jupiter by Train, Mr. Brightside by The Killers, and Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey. We record them on my computer because I have the software for it. My brother and I play piano, guitar, drums, and I play the Saxophone.
I have also taken a liking to the guitar. I have learned about 10 new songs within 2 weeks. Some of them are Dream On by Aerosmith, Hell’s Bells by AC/DC, Prayer of the Refugee by Rise Against, Sweet Home Alabama by Leonard Skynard, Devil in a Midnight Mass by Billy Talent, Hysteria by Muse, Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria, and The Kids Aren’t Alright by The Offspring. I am also writing a song but I haven’t gotten all the lyrics done yet and with my schedule, I don’t know how long it will take to finish them.
On the drums, I can play many songs but a lot of it can be made up. The drums keep the beat to many songs. Some of my favorite songs to play are Welcome Home by Coheed and Cambria, Rock & Roll Band by Boston, Smokin’ by Boston, and again, Devil in a Midnight Mass by Billy Talent. All of those songs are very difficult to play and took about a week each to perfect. I probably shouldn’t have tried to learn them but I did and I am glad I did.
Besides baseball, music is my favorite thing in the world, I can’t get enough of it. I love how I can play anything I want and make anything I want. I can make it sound how I want and I can make the mood whatever I want. I control everything and nobody can tell me what to play or how to play it. That’s why I love it so much. Music is what I do in most of my spare time.
I highly encourage everyone who has extra time to find an instrument they like because music has changed my life like nothing else has ever done. If you are creative, music is a great thing to be good at because you can play whatever you want. My friends and I can play music like there’s no tomorrow because it never gets boring. We can improvise at anytime. That’s why music is one of my favorite things in the world.

Atlanta, Georgia

In Atlanta we went to a Six Flags water park. It was one of the world’s best water parks and it had the largest and fastest speed slide in the world! My family and I went on it even though the wait was over an hour. We also went on some other really fun tube slides and roller coasters. We left after about 5 hours of water cause it was starting to get dark. After that we went out to dinner with our friends the Alfords and then spent the night at their house. We hadn’t seen them since they moved from Maple Valley to Atlanta about 5 years ago.
While we were in Atlanta we also went to the worlds largest aquarium. We saw millions of fish that were different shapes and sizes had different and colors and fins. We also got to catch shrimp with our hands and touch sting rays and hammer head sharks. We went out to lunch afterwards and saw a roller skating cross dresser. It was really funny, he was wearing a tutu. The best part was that we were with some of our best friends and it was my favorite vacation ever!
The last and final thing that we did was going to the Atlanta Braves Baseball game. They were playing the Phillies and we had seats 10 feet from the dugout in the front row! The Braves won and I caught 3 foul balls and was on TV two times! We also were in the 700club. It is in the upper deck and they serve you food and drinks, and when we left we went to our front row seats to watch the game.
